A week until the 2016 Rio Olympics Opening and the Philippine team’s flag-bearer has been selected.
The 21-year-old Ian Lariba, or Yanyan is the chosen athlete to be given the honor to wave the nation’s flag in the prestigious athletic event. Yanyan is also our first national table tennis player to compete in the Olympics.
Lariba is from Cagayan De Oro and has won multiple invidual awards during her five-year career as a varsity player for DLSU.
Joining Lariba in representing the Philippines at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are Kristie Elane Alora (TAEKWONDO), Jasmine Alkhaldi, Jessie King Lacuna (SWIMMING), Eric Cray, Mary Joy Tabal, Marestella Torres (TRACK AND FIELD), Nestor Colonia, Hidilyn Diaz (WEIGHTLIFTING), and Miguel Tabuena (GOLF).
